Priest Eli was guilty of this, and the blessing and protection of the Lord was taken away as symbolized by the Philistines taking the ark of the covenant out of Shiloh while leaving death and destruction in their path; thus, Shiloh was left desolate from the grace, honor, and protection of the Lord that they were once blessed with. Unless we learn from the mistakes of the past, history WILL be repeated in our lives; for God is the SAME yesterday, today, and forever!
